Marconi Grand Prix of
Cleveland Presented By Firstar.
Despite an unscheduled pit
stop for an overheating engine, JAG Promotions driver Jeff Glenn moved from 22nd
to 19th at the Burke Lakefront Airport course.
Oakland, CA (July 1st, 2000) - JAG Promotions announced today that Boise Cascade Office Products Barber Dodge Race car driven by Jeff Glenn suffered some mid-race setbacks with a pitstop for an overheating engine during the event, but went on to finish 19th at the Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland with the CART FedEx Championship.
The schedule will also include, Mid – Ohio Sports Car Course at Lexington, OH August 13th, Road America at Elkhart Lake, WI August 20th, and Laguna Seca at Monterey, CA September 10th.
Jeff Glenn driver of the Boise Cascade Office Products Barber Dodge car told the story; “I am still getting used to these cars a bit, and learning the track at the same time. A slight miscalculation in turn 4 during the first quarter of the race sent me off into the grass. I didn’t lose much time, and had I been able to stay out I think we would have ended up around 12th or 13th, but the alarms went off on the dash warning me that the water temperature was dangerously high. I knew that the openings were covered in grass, so I brought it in to clear the radiators. I lost a lap with the pit stop.” Several other competitors stayed out with grass in the radiators, and ended up losing their engines during the event.
The Boise Cascade hospitality event in conjunction with the race was double the size of the Detroit event. It was also very successful.
